Thank you for using Bitkit Watch. Bitkit Watch is made available by Synonym Software Ltd., registered in El Salvador and having its registered office at 87 avenida norte, calle El Mirador, edificio Torre Futura, oficina 06, nivel 11, colonia Escalón, del municipio de San Salvador, departamento de San Salvador, Código Postal 01101, República de El Salvador, (“Synonym”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).

We at Synonym respect and protect the privacy of Bitkit Watch users. This privacy notice (“Privacy Policy”) sets out the basis on which Personal Information about you (“you”, “your”, or “customer”) is processed by us. “Personal Information” is typically data that identifies an individual or relates to an identifiable individual and includes any information which, either alone or in combination with other data, enables you to be directly or indirectly identified, for example your name, email address, username, contact details or any unique identifier such as an IP address, device ID or other online identifier. Personal information includes information you provide to us, information which is collected about you automatically, and information we obtain from third parties. The exact definition of Personal Information depends on the applicable law based on your physical location. Only the definition that applies to your physical location will apply to you under this Privacy Policy.

Synonym acts as data controller for your Personal Information and has appointed Rickert RechtsanwaltsgesellschaftmbH, whose registered office is Colmantstraße 15, 53115, Bonn, Germany, as its EU/UK representative.

Please read the following carefully to understand what Personal Information we collect, how that Personal Information is used and the ways it can be shared by us. If you do not agree with or you are not comfortable with any aspect of this Privacy Policy, you should immediately discontinue access or use of Bitkit Watch and any related services.

  1. Information associated with your use of Bitkit Watch.

    Bitkit Watch is a browser-based website that does not require downloading via a third-party platform or app store. No account creation, authentication, or provision of personal information to Synonym is required to use Bitkit Watch.

    All data associated with your use of Bitkit Watch, including monitored Bitcoin addresses, user preferences, display settings, and cached blockchain or market data, is stored exclusively in your browser using standard web storage mechanisms. This data resides solely on your device and is not transmitted to, or accessible by, Synonym. You may delete locally stored Bitkit Watch data at any time by clearing your browser’s site data or local storage through the browser’s settings.

    • When you enter a Bitcoin address into Bitkit Watch, the application queries third-party external API services (“External API Providers”) to retrieve publicly available blockchain data and market data. In connection with these queries, the following information may be transmitted to External API Providers:
    • the public Bitcoin address(es) entered by you;
    • your IP address;
    • standard HTTP request metadata, including user-agent string, request timestamps, and protocol headers; and
    • any additional technical data inherent in your browser-to-API communication.
  2. Information transmitted to External API Providers.

    The External API Providers currently used by Bitkit Watch include mempool.space and Blockstream for publicly available blockchain data, and Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase for market data and exchange rates. Each External API Provider operates under its own privacy policy, and you are encouraged to review those policies to understand how your data may be collected, used, or retained by those providers. Synonym is not responsible for, and makes no representations regarding, the data practices of any External API Provider. Synonym does not receive, log, intercept, or store any of the data described above.

  3. Privacy implications of public blockchain data.

    You should be aware that Bitcoin addresses and their associated transaction histories are publicly visible on the Bitcoin blockchain. Monitoring an address through Bitkit Watch does not create any additional on-chain exposure of that address. However, the act of querying a Bitcoin address through an External API Provider may associate your IP address (or other network-level identifiers) with that Bitcoin address in the logs or records of the External API Provider.

  4. Aggregated Data.

    We may anonymize or aggregate Personal Information and other data captured by us so that it cannot be associated with a specific individual (“Aggregated Data”). Aggregated data may cover patterns of usage or information and data that you provide to us, and we reserve the right to use this aggregated information for the purposes of improving and enhancing our services, generating insights, for use in marketing to other users and current and potential partners and otherwise for the purposes of our business. Except for this section, none of the other provisions of this Privacy Policy applies to Aggregated Data.

  5. How your Personal Information is used.

    Our primary purpose in collecting Personal Information is to provide you with a secure, smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Because Synonym does not directly collect or store personal data in connection with Bitkit Watch, the following purposes apply primarily to any data that may be processed by External API Providers or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. From time to time, and as required under applicable law, we may request your permission to allow us to share your Personal Information with third parties. In such instances, you may opt out of having your Personal Information shared with third parties, or allowing us to use your Personal Information for any purpose that is incompatible with the purposes for which we originally collected it or subsequently obtained your authorization. If you choose to limit the use of your Personal Information, certain features of Bitkit Watch may not be available to you.

  6. Legal Basis for processing your Personal Information

    For individuals who are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland (collectively “EEA Residents”) at the time their Personal Information is collected, our legal bases for processing your information under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) will depend on the Personal Information at issue, the specific context in the which the Personal Information is collected and the purposes for which it is used.

    Special provisions for EEA Residents

    If you are an EEA resident you have a number of rights in relation to how we process your Personal Information:

  11. Third-Party records

    Please be aware that Bitcoin addresses and their associated transaction histories are recorded on a public blockchain. Public blockchains are distributed ledgers, intended to immutably record transactions across wide networks of computer systems. Many blockchains are open to forensic analysis which can lead to deanonymization and the unintentional revelation of private financial information, especially when blockchain data is combined with other data.

    Because blockchains are decentralized or third-party networks which are not controlled or operated by Synonym, we are not able to erase, modify, or alter Personal Information from such networks.

  12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

    Any changes we make to our Privacy Policy in the future will be posted on this page and, where material, notified to you. Please check back frequently to see any updates or changes to our Privacy Policy. Any changes will be posted on this page and will take effect on the date indicated at the top of the revised notice. Continued use of Bitkit Watch following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
